About Greg
Raised in the American Ozarks, Greg learned the values of faith, hard work and community responsibility early in life. Those values have since guided a global career in public service that led him to Australia in 2011, where he and his wife and daughter proudly became citizens in 2016.
From graduating a daughter from Templestowe College to serving within Manningham Uniting Church and founding a local neurodiverse youth program over the past eight years, Greg and his family have been deeply invested in local life.
Rare, Cross-Sector Experience
With three decades of experience in national security, higher education and local government roles, Greg understands how legislative bodies function, how healthy governments are meant to function, the impacts of policy on local residents, and how to hold public institutions accountable.
His expertise includes:
-
A decade of federal service in national security, federal budgeting, and legislative affairs, including service inside the Pentagon. Later, as a City Councillor in Florida, Greg balanced budgets, scrutinised large infrastructure and planning projects, and answered directly to residents.
-
Transitioned to teaching science in a high need urban secondary school. From there, 15 years in higher education teaching and administration across the U.S., New Zealand and Australia, including doctoral research at the ANU and field work in West Africa.
-
A lifetime of volunteering across prison mentoring, Scouting leadership, and citizen science projects with Earthwatch. In 2022, Greg founded and led Catch Your Breath, a community program for Neurodiverse youth and their families with Manningham Uniting Church.
Do you feel let down by party leaders who pretend to listen, fake empathy, and waste precious opportunity on political theatre?
So do I.
Bulleen and wider Victoria have been let down by political leaders who refuse to build consensus and take advice. If I’m elected, you can be certain my actions will be guided by your voices, my moderate point of view, my compassion as an educator and local mentor, a personal integrity rooted in my faith, and the conviction that all of us deserve to thrive with dignity and respect.
