When a government actively sidelines independent advisory bodies like Infrastructure Victoria or the Auditor-General because their data is politically inconvenient, taxpayer money is wasted, and essential local services bear the brunt of the fallout. Effective governance requires that policy proposals be anchored in rigorous research and objective expert advice to ensure they deliver real, measurable results for our communities.
Drawing on my background in federal and municipal budgeting, I know that genuine leadership requires doing the math before making the promise. Absolute accountability means ending the era of zero consequences for fiscal mismanagement and political spin. I will work to empower independent bodies like the Auditor-General and IBAC with greater investigative reach, enforcing real-time financial reporting on all taxpayer-funded projects, and mandating that governments answer directly to the public for budget overruns. We must restore integrity to parliament by ensuring that every dollar spent is rigorously tracked and every political promise is backed by uncompromising accountability.
Compassionate Community Care
Victoria’s healthcare and social support systems are buckling under systemic pressure. I’ve witnessed our emergency departments operating at breaking point, with exhausted frontline health workers bearing the brunt of a system in crisis. Elective surgery wait lists are blown out, and access to critical mental health services remains fragmented. Meanwhile, billions in state funds are wasted on the mismanagement of mega-infrastructure projects. At the same time, the rising cost of living is pushing more local families toward housing insecurity and financial distress, leaving our community without the reliable safety net it desperately needs.
Compassionate community care requires a practical, centrist approach that balances fiscal responsibility with a deep, uncompromising commitment to social wellbeing. We cannot claim to be a prosperous state if our essential services are failing the people who rely on them most. As an independent voice, I will fight to reprioritize the state budget, redirecting funds away from mismanaged political pet projects and back into our local hospitals, community health centers, and frontline support services.
Proactive Youth Intervention
For too long, the Victorian Government has treated youth justice and development as a political football, flip-flopping on bail laws and policy commitments to appease short-term media cycles rather than following expert advice. The state government's knee-jerk reactions have led to surging rates of youth remand, prioritizing punitive measures at the expense of addressing the root causes of youth crime, such as family violence, school disengagement, and a lack of mental health support. At a staggering cost of over $7,700 a day to lock up a single child, we are pouring taxpayer money into a broken, reactive system that repeatedly fails to rehabilitate vulnerable young people or make our local communities genuinely safer. I will advocate for a smart, evidence-based youth justice system that holds young offenders accountable through restorative practices, while ensuring vulnerable children receive the targeted educational and welfare support they need to break the cycle of disadvantage and build a meaningful future in Victoria.
Balanced Energy Transition
Victoria's transition to a clean energy future is essential for our environment and long-term economy, but the current ideologically driven approach has created a fragile grid and skyrocketing bills for families and businesses. A successful energy policy must guarantee that the lights stay on and that power remains affordable, without sacrificing our necessary commitment to a sustainable future.
While remaining fully committed to our renewable targets, I will advocate for securing reliable power by utilizing existing resources, including gas as a critical transitional fuel, as we scale up our clean energy capacity. Furthermore, I will fight to ensure that major energy infrastructure is developed in genuine partnership with regional communities, ensuring that our vital climate ambitions are carefully balanced against the immediate economic realities facing Victorian families.
Integrated Educational Excellence
Education is a lifelong process requiring stable support from the prep classroom to the university lecture hall and the TAFE workshop. Victoria’s education system is becoming increasingly fragmented and strained at every level. In our primary and secondary schools, chronic teacher shortages and unsustainable administrative workloads are leaving classrooms under-resourced. In the tertiary sector, headline-grabbing policies like "Free TAFE" have masked alarmingly low completion rates, leaving institutes burdened with structural funding issues that fail to bridge our state’s critical skills gaps. Our universities are treated as easy revenue targets rather than vital partners in state development. Instead of providing a cohesive journey from early learning to a career, the Victorian Government has created a disjointed system that struggles to deliver the outcomes our students and industries need.

Victoria’s natural heritage and urban livability are being steadily eroded by a political culture that treats environmental protection as an afterthought or a mere box-checking exercise. While the state government frequently makes grand announcements about green initiatives, its actual conservation record on the ground is failing. Critical native habitats are being cleared, and local communities are watching their neighborhood tree canopies disappear under massive state infrastructure projects that routinely bypass local environmental protections. I believe that genuine climate action and environmental protection must be practical, science-driven, and economically responsible. Preserving our natural assets and building a clean, circular economy is the ultimate fiscal responsibility, ensuring our state remains prosperous and livable for the next generation.
Dignified Elder Support
Victoria’s older residents and their dedicated family carers are being failed by a fragmented system characterized by bureaucratic buck-passing between state and federal governments. In our public hospitals, a severe lack of transition planning has led to an escalating crisis of "bed-blocking," where thousands of medically cleared senior Victorians are stranded in noisy acute wards for months simply because there are no supported pathways into residential or home care. caring for our seniors requires respectful, localized, and seamlessly integrated services. I will fight to end the state-federal blame game by funding dedicated "step-down" transition care to free up our hospital beds and ensure that the unpaid family carers who hold the system together receive the robust respite and support they deserve. Good governance means ensuring that the Victorians who built our communities can age with dignity, safety, and respect.
Generous Disability Support
Victoria’s disability support frameworks are failing where they matter most: in everyday life. Following federal reforms to the NDIS, the state government has too often engaged in bureaucratic cost-shifting with Canberra over who pays for "Foundational Supports." This stand-off leaves neurodiverse youth, children with developmental delays, and adults with mild-to-moderate needs falling through the cracks, while state-level disability advocacy funding struggles to meet surging demand. I will fight to guarantee generous state funding for early intervention and Foundational Supports, ensuring every Victorian has a robust safety net regardless of their NDIS eligibility. Furthermore, I will demand capital funding to retrofit our public transport and community infrastructure so that every person, regardless of ability, can navigate and participate in our state with total independence and dignity.
